Barack Obama is a longtime member of Chicago's Trinity United Church of Christ. But these days, the Democratic presidential candidate rarely attends religious services there. Obama instead finds himself visiting churches in other cities, as he did Sunday while on the campaign trail in Sioux City. He joined the 300-member, predominantly black congregation of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in its Palm Sunday celebration. The event was part of a weekend western Iowa debut for Obama that also included stops Saturday in Council Bluffs, Denison and Onawa. "What a wonderful church you have," Obama said after relaying a hello from his pastor in Chicago. "I miss my own church." Obama, a member of the 10,000-member Trinity United Church of Christ since 1988, has spoken about his faith, the socially progressive United Church of Christ and the need for Democrats to listen to the thoughts of religious Americans.

THIS IS AN EDITORIAL. IT DOES NOT NECESSARILY REFLECT TO OPINIONS OF THE COMANCHE COUNTY DEMOCRATIC PARTY OR ITS OFFICERS.
I went out on my stoop this morning and got my copy of the Sunday Bentley Bugle, and after taking two pounds of ads out of the mid section, I noticed the front page had articles about all of the local forms a government wanting more tax money. I read all of the ads and articles inside, and still don't understand where the money is really going to be spent. But I have my suspicions.
There were several deserving projects mixed in with some vague references to projects yet to be identified. The fairgrounds is a much used facility and muchly deserves an upgrade and expansion. All the county would benefit from the investment this money and the return to Comanche County would be great. I understand and support industrial development money when its spent for the right reason and in the right places; but have a suspicions about the locations where the Lawton Chamber of Commerce wants the money spent.
But the rest of the package(s) look very fluffy to me.
What really gives away the show is the Bugle editorial which says the money is to be spent in anticipation of the 11,000 strong Inhofe Ghost Brigades coming to town.
I dunno. It also sounds like the conservative tax credit scheme for renewal in the Old Town Area badly needs propping up and the half broke housing developers needs some tax money channeled their way for infrastructure.
What really disappoints me is no money is earmarked for combating gangs terrorizing this city and county.
Where is your tax money going?
