WHAT DO THEY WANT TO DO WITH YOUR TAX DOLLARS?

THIS IS AN EDITORIAL. IT DOES NOT NECESSARILY REFLECT TO OPINIONS OF THE COMANCHE COUNTY DEMOCRATIC PARTY OR ITS OFFICERS.

I went out on my stoop this morning and got my copy of the Sunday Bentley Bugle, and after taking two pounds of ads out of the mid section, I noticed the front page had articles about all of the local forms a government wanting more tax money. I read all of the ads and articles inside, and still don't understand where the money is really going to be spent. But I have my suspicions.

There were several deserving projects mixed in with some vague references to projects yet to be identified. The fairgrounds is a much used facility and muchly deserves an upgrade and expansion. All the county would benefit from the investment this money and the return to Comanche County would be great. I understand and support industrial development money when its spent for the right reason and in the right places; but have a suspicions about the locations where the Lawton Chamber of Commerce wants the money spent.

But the rest of the package(s) look very fluffy to me.

What really gives away the show is the Bugle editorial which says the money is to be spent in anticipation of the 11,000 strong Inhofe Ghost Brigades coming to town.

I dunno. It also sounds like the conservative tax credit scheme for renewal in the Old Town Area badly needs propping up and the half broke housing developers needs some tax money channeled their way for infrastructure.

What really disappoints me is no money is earmarked for combating gangs terrorizing this city and county.

Where is your tax money going?

Iowa Politics

This is good news! Maloney presided over the greatest political train wreck in recent memory here in Oklahoma. I encourage the host of "professionals" that worked for him to rush to Iowa and work for him this cycle. Iowa  should have the experience of working with people who "know what they are doing" and "learn something" from them.

Political activist volunteers are the best work force you can have. They win because they are passionate for their cause. Regardless of their flaws, Okie voters know them and trust them.

P.S. Iowans, watch your wallet and your credit cards.

BRAC SCAM CONTINUES

EDITORIAL

The following is an editorial and may or may not reflect the personal opinions of the Comanche County Democratic party or its officers.

After picking up my copy Bentley Bugle off of my front stoop this morning, I looked down and there was Congressman Lookingood looking back at me from the front page. He had his “I going to lay another one on you and you will believe it” look on his face.

His new position seems to be, that after two weeks in power, the Democrats have wrecked the BRAC and that the non funding is all their fault. He goes on to say he has filed some papers that will take of that. I guess you are not to worry because he and Senator Claghorn are on the job and everything is OK; just like it has always been.

Never mind that for the last six years, the Republicans controlled both houses of congress and the Presidency.

Never mind that it was Wolfowitz and Rumsfeld who did the BRAC hacking under the name Army of the Future and  failed to fund BRAC.

Never mind that in spite of campaign trumpeting during the last three campaign cycles by the Congressman and the Senator of being powerful members of Committees and friends to the President nothing effective has been done.

Never mind that the Congressman and Senator have been “filing papers” for the past six years with no results.

Never mind that none of the “papers” have ever funded or reached the desk of the President.

Never mind that the figure of 11,000 military personnel or was it 11,000 military personnel and families; or was it 11000 jobs or was it 11,000 you name its; was a figure grabbed out of the air by Senator Claghorn.

At some point the leadership of Lawton have got to realize that they have been victims of a long term BRAC funding scam and new leadership and new ideas are needed to get this vital project going in the right direction

State Senator Randy Bass is proposing a new approach. It should be seriously examined and supported. It’s based on community investment not non funded mandates.

PS: It might help if Congressman Lookingood stopped by the Capitol in between money grubbing trips and got acquainted with the Democratic Congressman Boren. His name is Dan Boren. He’s on the Armed Services Committee with the Congressman.
